ROH wheels Australia has recently completed a wheel development project with a group called FV2000 project. The FV2000 Project is South Australia’s entry in the National Engineering Innovation Competition and comprises of a consortium from the University of Adelaide. The resultant product of the FV2000 project is a concept race car, designed and constructed by South Australian students, with a primary emphasis on driver safety. The car is based on the Formula Vee racecar category. A standard 1200cc or 1600cc air cooled VW engine with a standard 4 speed Volkswagen gearbox, and VW components in front and rear suspension. The engine is straightforward to remove and dismantle. The chassis are simple and body panels are either aluminium or fibreglass and easy to repair. All up body weight of the car and driver is restricted to a minimum of 475kg for 1200cc cars and 490kg for 1600cc cars, with a top speed of approximately 200 km/h. Dunlop have exclusively developed an all weather racing compound tyre specifically to Formula Vee. The new wheel for the project is a 15” Venturo wheel.
